I received my shipment of these delicious spelt flatbread krackers this week. However the "sell by" date on each package is a week old. They seem to be fresh enough now, but I am wondering about how long they will keep past the sell by date. It also makes me wonder about other Amazon orders and the sell by dates on them. I will be wary of ordering other items with a short shelf life.

(More customer reviews)These are nice and at $28, a good value. They taste yummy and are pretty satisfying. They're vegan, preservative free, and have only a half gram of monounsaturated fat each. My only issue is that the calories are a bit high and the nutrients a bit low. Each (appx) 5x3" cracker is 70 calories and has only 2 grams of fiber. Aside from phosphorous and magnesium (6 and 4% RDA respectively) the only health benefit is 2 grams each of protein and iron. For a cracker, they are pretty filling but it's still easy to go through a LOT of calories in a short time. With a thick, no-sugar spread a couple of these would probably suffice for a heavy breakfast or light lunch.

Compared to most healthy (particularly high protein and high fiber) cereals, it has a higher protein and fiber content per serving. As important, it tastes good. Its taste obviously cannot compare to some sugar filled normal cereal, but as health cereals go, this one is a keeper. I eat it 3-4 days a week and have done so for over a year and I still like it! Just note that you may want to buy one box from your local grocery store before buying a six pack from amazon.com just to make sure you like it.

(More customer reviews)If you're a former junk food junkie like me, then you'll get an idea of what these things taste like when I describe them as a more fibrous (chewy) version of rice kripy squares with a chocolate coating on the bottom. They really are that delicious. And at 170 calories with 4gm of fat (1.5gm saturated), 9gm of protein, and 5gm of fiber, they are a healthy alternative to many other types of snacks that one could indulge in (pastries, candy, etc).
These are easily my favorite protein bar and I've tried over a dozen kinds.
Edit on 9/27/07: This review pertains to the chocolate peanut Go Lean flavor. I just noticed that Amazon is grouping reviews for all of Kashi's bars together, so without specificity in the review it's impossible to know which product is being reviewed.

(More customer reviews)I wanted to like these crackers, given the awesome nutritional profile and ingredients. I would say two and a half stars, and it's because the idea is great but the execution is not so good. I'm just unhappy that I'm stuck with five more bags of these things.
There are two primary weaknesses:
1) Lack of flavor. I think I need to try the other cracker flavors, because these are just whole flaxseeds with some Bragg Liquid Aminos (soy sauce, basically) and lemon juice, and the flavor is just not enough for me.
2) Awful chewing experience. When you eat one of these, the flaxseeds stick. Everywhere. Between your teeth. On the roof of your mouth. Lodged around your jaw. Really, it takes a long time to feel like you don't have flax embedded everywhere in your mouth. Not a very social snack, for this reason.
I hope they keep working on this, as the idea is good.

(More customer reviews)I bought these as a way to supplement my meals, as well as get more fiber and protein. First of all, these bars are fairly nutritious. They are made of natural ingredients and whole grains, just like the cereal. Each bar contains 6g of fiber and 9g of protein. Considering most people in the United States don't get enough fiber, that is a very decent amount. Previously I was eating the Fiber One Bars Oats & Chocolate, 5-Count Boxes (Pack of 6). While you get 3g more fiber in those bars, you only get 2g of Protein. The Kashi bars are made of better (and more nutritious) ingredients, and they taste better as well. Each bar has only 180 calories, but they are very filling due to the fiber and protein.
Although a bar made of brown rice and oats doesn't sound very tasty, these are some of the best bars I've tried. As the name implies, they're not chewy, but not too crunchy either. Below is the main nutritional info:

At work, my chair really takes a pounding and the warm odor of high-fiber farts lingers most of the morning, making my irksome coworkers more reluctant to bother me.
The only down side is that unless you let it soak a long time, it's like trying to eat a bowl of rocks. Warming it in the microwave improves the soaking time and is great for the cold winter months!

(More customer reviews)I've been looking for the perfect bar. Not too sweet, not too drab, not a calorie bomb, but not a tiny nugget of food either, low in sugar, but not tasteless. Voila!
The only sweetener used in these bars is Chicory extract. That's right, no sugar, no agave nectar, no artificial ingredients, so the sweetness is subtle, but present. Chicory extract is also the source of most of the fiber in the bars, next to the whole grains and almonds, 13 grams in all. I also like that at 150 calories, i don't feel like I've blown lunch by enjoying one before my workout.
I thought it might be just me, obsessed with a new favorite snack, so I shared it with a girlfriend. Her remark was, "They are just so... easy to eat!" So there you have it people, easy to eat, delicious, fiber-full, and sugar-free.

(More customer reviews)I just got my crate from Amazon and it was perfect timing for an afternoon snack. I ripped into one of these to give it a try. OMG! They are great! I last tried the Nacho version, which I will also review. I rank these one star higher. They are subtle in flavor but real cheesy and crunchy and yummy. Bland is NOT a word I'd use. They have a wonderful flavor that isn't overwhelming. Just right for what it is. The Nacho version was much more bold, OK for what that is. Still, now that I tried both, this is my favorite. If you're on Weight Watchers, this is a great One Point snack. They also go real well with an apple for 2 points together. The portion is very generous, it's all that fiber that keeps the damage in check. Highly recommended!
