I received my shipment of these delicious spelt flatbread krackers this week. However the "sell by" date on each package is a week old. They seem to be fresh enough now, but I am wondering about how long they will keep past the sell by date. It also makes me wonder about other Amazon orders and the sell by dates on them. I will be wary of ordering other items with a short shelf life.

Try a weetabix biscuit with butter and jam (sugar and fat free if dieting) or a dollop of yogurt with fruit. Very tasty!
You can also crumble it up, mix in some melted butter and make a crust for just about anything.

These are not heavy on the chocolate, but the combination of all the ingredients gives a very good flavor. They have 19g of sugar, but I think most of that comes from the dates and the nectar. No refined sugar. I will purchase again or maybe, I'll get some Miniature Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, next time. I see Amazon sells those, too. Yum! Those are my weakness.

His complaint about natural peanut butters was that they separate and he doesn't like keeping them in the refrigerator because they get too hard and tear the bread when you spread them. A few weeks ago, we tried Krema. After mixing the oil in, we just leave it in the cupboard. Even though it's been a really hot summer, it stays together. Of course, it's not around that long. We eat a jar a week! It's so finely ground, it's almost as if they used a chocolate conching machine to grind it. They actually have several varieties, including a hot and spicy peanut butter which I look forward to trying. I've only tried the cruncy kind. It is good stuff. Now if only I can talk them into making an organic variety, I think I will have figured out the one food I would want with me if I were ever stranded on a desert island...

I purchased these snack bars because they don't contain the usual bugaboos: high-fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated oils, artificial sweeteners, etc. However, they're mighty hard to chew. And that's *probably* a good thing.
I'm a hardcore fan of Quaker Oats granola bars, because they're a quick snack and they're heavy-laden with sugar, but they also have the HFCS (bad, bad) and hydrogenated oils (bad, bad, BAD). However, they are easy to chew (probably because of the nice, soft plastics they contain). I am striving to slowly back away from the QO granola bars because of their unhealthy and lengthy ingredient list.
The Kashi brand snacks are agreeable to the palate and they do have enough sugar for my personal tastes, but I have a couple crowns and I wonder if my over-priced prosthetic teeth can survive this healthy eating experience.
That being said, these are the snacks of choice for long car trips. For one, I'll never pig out on them and two, they're good for the tummy. They provide a little energy boost and they're high octane fuel for this four-layer bio-suit we call a human body.
I'm working my way through the different flavors. My favorites are the pumpkin spice and peanut butter, yet honestly, I can't discern an enormous difference between these three (pumpkin, PB and honey toasted).

Cashews tasted stale which is not surprising given the flimsey packaging -- secured only with a twistie instead of being vacuumed sealed. Will not buy again.

(More customer reviews)It seems that the difference between the black Quinoa (this product) and the regular (white?) quinoa is that the black still has the edible hull on it. Any quinoa is healthy and nutritious but I prefer the regular (white) version. The black quinoa is heavier in the stomach, more filling and does not pick up the taste of garlic or other seasonings or flavors added to it as well as the regular quinoa dies.
I suspect the black version has a lot more fiber than the white due to the hulls and as a result may prove to be the ultimate colon cleanse diet.
Either one seems to cause a lot of flatulence, though it generally seems to be a rather harmless, inert, odorless gas. You may find that you startle people around you as you backfire but you are not likely to injure or poison or overcome anyone with your pungent odors.

(More customer reviews)It really stinks that eating the healthiest foods costs the most but in my opinion, it's worth it. I love these cereals. The first case I bought from amazon was the original and I wound up eating it for breakfast, snacks, lunch, whenever, without milk or adding anything... I love the crunch and the taste. I actually ate the whole case in about 2 weeks and very little else... and it is amazing that I didn't gain weight, my bms were much better, and I had great energy and felt well- my body was craving it. Try that on Coco Puffs, Cornflakes, and even any of the other "healthy" cereals in the healthfood stores!
I actually make my own sprouted grain breads and crackers which I could easily break up to make this type of cereal- there is nothing in the world like it, but it takes 2 days of sprouting and a couple of hours to complete the food processing and spreading on the baking sheet process, and then 3-4 hours of low-heat baking. So when I don't have time to do this, a very close second are the Ezekiel products (their bread, english muffins, cereals, and pastas).
Anyone who makes health their top priority will eat very little of non-sprouted grain products (flour products). For those interested, Amazon sells a book called the Essene Gospel of Peace which contains writings found in the Vatican archives- in this little book, Jesus teaches his followers how to make bread, and it has nothing to do with taking the dry grain and grinding it up into flour and using yeast- he teaches them to soak the grain, let the sun bring it to life, grind it up alive, and then let the sun bake it. That makes the only truly living, healthful breads and cereals.
Yes, these products will feel and taste different than most are used to, but the more one eats this type of real food, the more the body starts remembering and then one begins to really enjoy the taste and textures because they equate to life and health. :)

Originally, I was introduced to the bread when on a special diet -- an offshoot program of "Over-eaters Anonymous", the H.O.W. program -- many years ago. The bread contains NO flour, no sugar, is high in protein and fiber, and, for my taste, is delicious. Actually, I learned that OVER-eating was not really my problem. My problem was NOT eating the healthiest, life-giving, minimally processed foods available. Over time, I learned, relapsed, and relearned, etc. I was thrilled when I learned "Food for Life" added cereals to their product line. In looking at labels at my local health food store, I discovered that this brand was the ONLY cold cereal on the shelves that had NO sugar content! Since then, this is the ONLY cold cereal I buy. It can be served warm, as well. Generally, though, I prefer "John McCann's Steel-Cut Irish Oatmeal" (also zero sugar and high fiber) for hot cereal.
Needless to say, the cereal is expensive (but cheap if you consider that you're no longer polluting your body with all the sugar, air, preservatives, and other junk in most commercial cereals), so I was thrilled to find that Amazon.com offered it in a 6-box bundle for a far better price than my local market. I usually have a bowl a day with fresh berries (strawberries are very sweet this year in my area) and slivered almonds topped with light soy milk. I find that when I'm eating really nutritious food, I eat slowly and savor. When I'm eating junk, I tend to "wolf" it down. It doesn't matter why. I just hate that sensation, so I avoid it and my body thanks me every day.

(More customer reviews)I'd never heard of Kamut before it showed up in my Gold Box deals (since I had purchased some other Red Mill products), but decided to give it a try based on the positive reviews. I'm glad I did. As a hot breakfast cereal, it has a nutty flavor and a consistency similar to MaltoMeal, but is much better for you! The taste took a little getting used to (it's best with some milk and brown sugar) but I now like it quite a bit. I've added it to my breakfast mix, and alternate it with oatmeal. I've also started mixing in a tablespoon or two of flax seed from time to time. It also goes really well with fresh berries, or even frozen blueberries if you thaw them out first.
While not quite supplanting oatmeal as my hot cereal of choice, Kamut has proven to be well worth the purchase; tasty, healthy, and organic. What more can you ask for from a product purchased on a whim?

I tried making the "Pharaohs Muffins" recipe on the back of the package and loved it! I added chopped dates, raisins, and ginger, as well as a pinch of cinnamon. I also omitted the butter and sugar, and instead used apple sauce. The muffins turned out extremely well, and I'll be making them again. My wife also loved them, as did the coworkers I shared them with. They were pretty surprised to find out they clock in at 145 calories and have virtually no fat! So give them a try--they are worth it.

(More customer reviews)I have been eating this cereal for quite a while now and really do like it very much. I particularly like the fact that its crispy but low in sugar and sweeteners. It reminds me of the Kellogg Wheat Flakes that I used to eat back home in India but don't seem to be available in the US. I usually eat a cereal mix comprising Post's Honey Nut Shredded Wheat, Weetabix Crispy Flakes and almonds. I get the sweetness from the shredded wheat (after I have let them soak alone in milk for some time), crunch from the Weetabix flakes and Omega 3 from the almonds. Sometimes for desert, I microwave the shredded wheat with milk until it is hot and the cereal has dissolved and then I add the crispy flakes. It makes a delicious hot cereal without too much work. I often eat this as desert :). I like hot cereals and this one doesn't take too much time either.
The price on Amazon is excellent, and with the free shipping, its a real bargain. I haven't been able to find this cereal under $5 in a regular grocery store...that is if I am able to find it at all.
Give it a shot. Its good.

(More customer reviews)I give this product 5 starts, but not for eating it as a cereal. I think that eating it plain/with milk is a little rough: as a cereal, I'd give it 2 stars. However, I LOVE using this stuff in yogurt (any flavor)--it adds more of a crunch than granola does--and it's also fantastic when you put it on top of fruit (espeically strawberries and melons like canteloupe...not so much watermelon). I really like the Ezekiel 4:9 with almonds best!
And as an FYI, 22 bucks for 6 boxes is a great deal. The cereal usually runs about $5-6 a box in-store.
