(More customer reviews)Having been raised on the typical late 60s/early 70s diet of sugar, grease and salt, I'm unable to choke down a bowl of tree bark and seaweed at 0-dark-thirty. Healthy as it may be, I am not able to live on nuts and berries and chewy, hard foods. I need a little sugar with my morning meal.
Frosted Mini-Wheats are a nice compromise between eating chocolate cake for breakfast (my favorite) or the other end of the health-conscious spectrum, gnawing on those hideously awful grape nuts (otherwise known and described as bite-size gravel bits).
It was my teenage daughter who first turned me on to these miniwheat cereals. Now I eat them right out of the box like a snack. They're full of fiber, quite tasty and not too hard to chew. Speaking as someone who gave up raw vegetables years ago (due to dental woes), the miniwheats are easy on the teeth and good for the body.
Another plus is the nutritional ratings. Now, I know these vitamins are just sprayed on in a massive chemical shower whilst rolling down the conveyor belt, but hey, vitamins are vitamins. One serving (24 little miniwheats) have 25% RDA of all the good stuff and 90% of your daily iron needs.
Of all the flavors, the plain is my least favorite. But, even this flavor isn't too shabby.

(More customer reviews)If this had the same amount of calories as ice cream, or even frozen yogurt, I would be giving the product 1 star. However, part of the appeal of Arctic Zero is that it is so low in calories. It is important to note that this is not ice cream nor does it taste like ice cream. I found that when I ate it straight out of the carton, it had a slightly weird aftertaste.
My advice to anyone who orders Arctic Zero is that you should go into it with the idea that you're going to get a frozen protein shake rather than the idea that you're going to get an amazing ice cream for only 64 calories for a cup. That would be too good to be true.
While I wouldn't eat Arctic Zero (at least not the chocolate peanut butter, which is the only flavor that I've tried) plain, I found that it does make for a good base for shakes (although, I would probably not purchase this product again). When I mixed it with a few other ingredients like milk, ice, fruit, cocoa powder, better 'n peanut butter, etc. I found that the strange aftertaste disappeared and I was left with a distinct chocolate flavor with a hint of peanut in the background.
Again, I will warn you, do not spend the money for this product if you're hoping to find a low calorie ice cream substitute. As I stated above, that's not what you're going to get!
Edited to add: I have to add one thing that I'm hoping that I'm wrong about. I'm wondering if the company is writing some product reviews to encourage (or mislead) others to buy their product. I certainly don't want to point the finger at anyone. However, I find it hard to believe that there are so many reviews that state that the product tastes like a rich and decadent desert. I find it hard to believe that anyone would claim that this product is mind-blowingly good or that it could be compared to regular ice cream, unless they had something to gain by doing so. Read the reviews for yourself and pay attention to the dates in which they were written as well as the fact that the good reviews seem to be rated as helpful, whereas the bad reviews are frequently either rated as unhelpful or are commented on by someone who seems to be invested in Arctic Zero. Perhaps I am wrong, as I have no real evidence to support my assumption. However, something doesn't seem quite right, and that needs to be addressed considering how pricey the product is.

When you receive it, it will smell funny so rinse it VERY well and pat dry. Western palettes may appreciate it more cut in small pieces or very thin "noodles". It will add bulk to soups and stir fries and is virtually calorie free because it is mostly fiber. It has almost no flavor of its own but will absorb the flavor of whatever it is cooked in. Pour some Torani coconut flavor sugar free syrup over small cubes and chill for several hours for a very low calorie but delicious dessert!

(More customer reviews)This product can only claim "low glycemic" because of the 18 grams (!) of Erythritol used... which as far as sugar alcohols go, is slow releasing (hence, low glycemic) and doesn't have the ill-effects of other sugar alcohols. However, that's 18 grams in one little bottle PLUS another 11 grams of sugar - Dextrin is listed on the label (which breaks down into pure glucose, albeit slightly slower than actual glucose).
That's 29 grams of sugar in ONE container! This product is NOT low sugar. It contains 73% of the recommended DAILY intake of sugar for non-diabetics (40g is the recommended intake for ALL sugars). 29 grams is the equivalent of a little over 7 teaspoons of sugar!
If you're trying to lose weight and/or are diabetic, please read labels very carefully. Companies are getting so good at hiding sugars - to the point of labeling something "sugar free" even when it technically isn't.

They have a lot of fiber and protein and are very filling and are especially good between meals. I especially like the fruit flavors because they have real fruit, and taste like it. My kids are also drinking these as a snack.
I happen to know a lot about these types of products. These are called "functional foods" and are designed to, well, serve a function. In this case, the idea is that a low calorie, high fiber, high protein snack will make you feel full and thus help you to avoid unhealthy snacks between meals. This will help you to eat better overall or loose weight, if that is your goal. This product is in a new class of foods called "snack beverages" meaning it is---you guessed it---a snack that you drink rather than eat. Not too many of those out yet, but they are coming, and they will be a welcome alternative to potato chips, cookies, donuts, and other snacks.
Overall, I think that this is a great product. It is based on a sound idea, packaged for convenience, and tastes great.

The mango is new and I love to freeze it overnight, throw it in my purse and a couple of hours later is a great snack to have on hand (but put it in a ziplock because it sweats). (More customer reviews)It really stinks that eating the healthiest foods costs the most but in my opinion, it's worth it. I love these cereals. The first case I bought from amazon was the original and I wound up eating it for breakfast, snacks, lunch, whenever, without milk or adding anything... I love the crunch and the taste. I actually ate the whole case in about 2 weeks and very little else... and it is amazing that I didn't gain weight, my bms were much better, and I had great energy and felt well- my body was craving it. Try that on Coco Puffs, Cornflakes, and even any of the other "healthy" cereals in the healthfood stores!
I actually make my own sprouted grain breads and crackers which I could easily break up to make this type of cereal- there is nothing in the world like it, but it takes 2 days of sprouting and a couple of hours to complete the food processing and spreading on the baking sheet process, and then 3-4 hours of low-heat baking. So when I don't have time to do this, a very close second are the Ezekiel products (their bread, english muffins, cereals, and pastas).
Anyone who makes health their top priority will eat very little of non-sprouted grain products (flour products). For those interested, Amazon sells a book called the Essene Gospel of Peace which contains writings found in the Vatican archives- in this little book, Jesus teaches his followers how to make bread, and it has nothing to do with taking the dry grain and grinding it up into flour and using yeast- he teaches them to soak the grain, let the sun bring it to life, grind it up alive, and then let the sun bake it. That makes the only truly living, healthful breads and cereals.
Yes, these products will feel and taste different than most are used to, but the more one eats this type of real food, the more the body starts remembering and then one begins to really enjoy the taste and textures because they equate to life and health. :)

Huge plus is all the fiber you get in just one serving and it is low calorie. Wonderful for someone who must watch their sugar and sodium intake. Will buy again and again! My kids even like snacking on it, I have replaced sugary cereal with this and they have no complaints.

Life was busy, and I wanted a fuss-free way to lose those last pounds before swimsuit season. Since I enjoy Special K products, I thought I'd put the Special K 2-Week Weight Loss Challenge to the test. I ate Special K cereal for two meals, snacked on fruits and veggies (instead of the recommend Special K snack products) and made healthy dinner choices. I didn't expect to lose 6 pounds as advertised, since my weight loss had slowed from months of dieting and I was near my goal weight. To my surprise, I lost 6 pounds and have finally reached my goal weight!
ABOUT THE DIET:
It's convenient and doesn't require much planning. However, it could get a little boring in the long run. It could also be difficult to meet daily nutritional requirements. Also, rapid weight loss could be difficult to maintain in the long run. If you've been dieting and just can't lose those last few pounds, or if you need to lose a few pounds fast for a big event, give Special K a try.
ABOUT THE CEREAL:
One can usually find a box of Special K in my kitchen cabinet. Most often, it is the Red Berries variety. I enjoy the Fruit and Yogurt flavor, as well, but the serving size is 1/4 cup less. The original flavor is also nice from time to time, but the Chocolatey Delight is just not a good idea, in my opinion. But back to the Red Berries. The cereal consists of the usual Special K flakes with dehydrated strawberries. Once I pour on my Silk Light soy milk, the berries plump up to add lots of real strawberry flavor. There are generous amounts of berries and the flakes stay crispy in milk. All in all, this is an excellent cereal that I highly recommend.

But the vet told us about this hi fiber biscuit and we tried it and she loves it! Purchasing them thru the vet was twice as expensive as getting them by mail and buying in bulk, although they have gone up a dollar a bag since I have been getting them by mail. I hope they will continue to be available and affordable so my fur baby can enjoy her treats.
