Incredibly Tasty. The Anasazi were cliff-dwelling natives that inhabited the Southwest over 1500 years ago;. Once of the few crops they cultivated and thrived on were these beautiful, nutritious beans. They require no presoaking and cook in about 2/3 the time of most other beans. (More customer reviews)I buy organic cranberry beans in 25-50 lb lots. They are a staple in our household. I had hoped to buy some from Barry Farm, and assumed - from their name - that they grew them. After all, they are a "farm," right? Understanding that some "organic" beans come from China, I thought I would call Barry Farms to confirm the country of origin for their beans. The female who took my call told me that they don't know where these beans come from since they get them from a distributor (so much for the "farm" in "Barry Farms"). I asked if she could give me the contact information for the distributor so that I could ask them directly. Her answer: "no". I asked if THEY could find out from the distributor where these beans come from. Her answer: "no". Thanks, but I'll do my business elsewhere.
UPDATE: I ended up buying from Italian Harvest - a dot com.
SECOND UPDATE: Italian Harvest no longer has an organic Borlotti/Cranberry bean, so this year I purchased from Purcell Mountain Farms, and am very pleased with their product.

(More customer reviews)I've always liked adzuki beans, but whenever I've bought them in bulk at various stores, they tend to be poor quality, with many rocks that have to be sorted out, as well as a few shriveled up beans here and there.
I'm glad I tried these adzuki beans by Arrowhead Mills, because they're much better quality, but still at a reasonable price. Every package in the case was fresh, and although there were a couple of pebbles in one bag (which is why you should ALWAYS sort dried beans before booking them, no matter what brand they are or where you got them), they were excellent over all.

This is a little sweeter than I'd like, but I'm sure all packaged bean paste is pretty sweet. It's very easy to squeeze out what you need, and you can avoid the canned taste. A bit expensive, but convenient and tasty. Also, in case you're confused by the suggestion to put this in soups like I was, this is quite sweet, and really just for desserts.

So much easier than begging Mum to pack a few tins in her case when she visits! However, be aware that Amazon ship these cans individually in a big box with air pillows for padding which means they roll and bang about. More than half of the dozen cans were badly dented. Still, everything's going to be happily eaten. Just would have preferred more care in the shipping. BTW, when you sign up for Amazon prime, you can get 12 tins shipped 2-day air with free shipping. (For us regulars, that's a fantastic deal!)
