(More customer reviews)I prefer the whole grain to the ground seed. When mixed with liquid (about 2 Tablespoons of Salba to 1 cup of liquid), it forms a gel. The whole grain has the consistency of tapioca pudding; the ground salba is a bit too gritty for me, even after it gels up. Whatever form one uses (ground or whole grain), Salba (chia seed) doesn't have much flavor of it's own, so it takes on the flavor of whatever I mix with it.
I do like that it has omega-3 (which is good for my heart) and fiber (which is good for my digestion).

I tried a lot of other gluten free cereals and they were not filling, would get soggy, and often were so full of sweeteners, they even left my mouth feeling raw. Perky's Nutty Flax is awesome! It is filling, not too sweet, tastes great on yogurt or can be eaten alone. And it stays crunchy for a long time, an added bonus for a busy mom in the mornings. I highly recommend this cereal for anyone with Celiac Disese that used to love cereal. In fact, I need to start buying this in bulk since the rest of my family discovered it and loves it. I is so nice that my kids, who do not have Celiac Disease, eat a healthy cereal like this.

And B&M are the best tasting baked beans in the world. Bacon and onion are my favorite. So much better than Bush beans. Decant the liquid for a lower calories. Price is awlful high though. Sometimes I can find the 28 0z. can for 50 cents in outlet stores (dented cans).

(More customer reviews)I bought the Navitas Naturals Chia seeds. They are great. I put them in a shaker bottle. I use them on sweet potatoes, in salads and coleslaw and just learned that they can replace half of the fat in baking. At first I didn't know if it was lowering my blood glucose or if it was something else but I confirmed it the other day. I had stopped using the seeds and my morning blood glucose shot up to the 140's. I decided to start using the seeds again and within a few days my blood sugars dropped to the 120's and the only thing I changed in my diet was the addition of chia seeds. I love them. I haven't made the gel yet I have only used them raw and they are like eating poppy seeds which I love. Hope this will help other diabetics. Navitas is a quality product and is very reasonably priced. I will definitely continue to buy them.

1.The price is right. Stores in my area charge $14.95 per package. Right now Amazon's price is half that.
2.It is sweet.
Negative:
1. The first package contained small brittle pieces which dissolved easily. The other dozen I've opened have one piece which has the consistency of taffy and does not dissolve with ease. Makes no sense why this would be the case but it is.
Personal opinion:
To me, the taste is so-so. Take a lot to sweeten a 32 oz smoothie. The licorice taste is detectable even if you use small amounts. I like licorice (a lot) but not in the background of everything I sweeten.
I'm not using what I bought but others might find the product to be wonderful. Especially if you absolutely must restrict your intake of sugars. It is very popular in Japan and growing in popularity in the USA. It could be exactly what you are looking for and it certainly is better than any near zero calorie alternatives I've found. I would suggest trying one packet someplace before buying 200 of them.
10-11-06 Update: Wisdom Natural Brands saw this review, emailed me and said they will replace any box which contains hard packages. Because of the weather, they had some product which absorbed water making the Stevia, as I mentioned above, taffy-like. A limited problem apparently. Doesn't affect quality or taste, just makes the product slower to dissolve. Didn't take the company up on the offer as the product is usable, the price was good and the relatives I gave it to like it a lot (one has to restrict sugar..a couple others of us should...).
